Grow little Gardener is proud to offer a nature club at Herrontownwoods for preK kids.

Dates:

September 7 4.30PM - Creating compost
September 21 ---5.00PM--- - Planting fall starts and garlic bulbs
October 5 4.30PM - Mulching
October 19 4.30PM - Seed saving
November 2 4.30PM - Planting spring flower bulbs


What to expect

The main goal is to learn how to tend a vegetable garden. We will also be hiking and discovering nature by the Veblen house. Fun outdoor games will also be part of the nature club.

- Children will plant and care for vegetable crops
- Children will learn about the soil
- Children will learn about plant needs
- Children will learn about insects
- Children will play with water (expect muddy and wet feet and hands)
- Children will learn how to protect grown up from the wood dangers (ticks, poison ivy…)
- Children will learn to recognize some ground-cover, shrubs and trees found in the woods, good ones, bad ones

Cost: by donation $43 recommended for the 5 classes for participating preK child for the 5 classes.

FAQ
Where does the class take place and where do I park?
The class will start and be dismissed at May’s garden by the Veblen house.
You can park temporary by the Veblen house or on Herrontownwoods main parking lot but in this case, there is a little walk to reach May’s garden.

As a parent do I have to stay during the class?
Yes if your child is a PreK

I have older kids, can they come and participate?
Please reach out to me, I always welcome older helpers.

How big is a the group?
The group will be limited to 6 preK kids.

How should I send my kid?
Dressing: long sleeves and light colors are ideal to spot ticks if any. Preferably old cloths ready for adventure.
Kids may wear bug repellent and sunscreen
They need to bring a water bottle

Do they need to bring some gardening supplies?
No, the material needed for the nature club will be provided.

In case of bad weather, is there a rain date?
Yes the following Sunday 4.30PM

I'm Mathilde Burlion, a mother of five wonderful children, ranging in age from 11 to 1. My deepest aspiration is to instill in children a profound understanding of the path to a sustainable future. To achieve this, I extend a warm invitation to join me in a series of nature and gardening workshops tailored for children. Together, we are sowing the seeds of awareness and nurturing a generation that is well-equipped to shape a brighter, more sustainable future.
